GSA Wallace Creek Field Guide (Geological Society of America Centennial Field Guide, Cordilleran Section, 1987) This field guide provides a more in-depth tour of the same 2-km stretch of fault described in the Interpretive Trail guide. It is designed for those with some geological background and describes a number of features not mentioned in the Interpretive Trail guide. It also explains how geologists were able to determine that this section of the fault has not moved since the last big earthquake, in 1857.
Carrizo Plain Self-Guided Geologic Auto Tours Pamphlet (The Nature Conservancy / Bureau of Land Management / California Dept. of Fish and Game) These two automobile tours will take you to other points of interest in the Carrizo Plain. The first tour will take you from the Goodwin Education Center in the Carrizo Plain to Soda Lake and then to the San Andreas fault at Wallace Creek. The second tour will take you the length of the southern half of the Carrizo Plain, from the Goodwin Education Center to Highway 166, and it will allow you to see and understand more of the San Andreas fault south of Wallace Creek.
